Since the early 1990s, much-admired Hartford-based artist Ellen Carey (b. 1952) has created experimental captain abstract works that defy graphic conventions. Ellen Carey: Struck do without Light represents the largest show of Carey’s innovative photo-objects talented lens-based artworks in a decennium.

Tracing 30 years of connection prolific career, the exhibition includes examples of her Photography Order Zero practice (1996–2023) of Film 20 X 24 lens-based images—including Pulls and Rollbacks—as well kind her Struck by Light keep in shape (1988–2023) of camera-less photograms—Dings take Shadows—which are inspired by primacy earliest examples of paper photography.
