George Crabbe (born Aldeburgh, Suffolk, 24 December 1754; died Trowbridge, Wiltshire, 3 Feb 1832) was an English lyricist and naturalist.
His poem The Borough which describes life etch a small town in Suffolk, inspired Benjamin Britten to get on his opera Peter Grimes.
Life
[change | change source]George Crabbe was born in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. Tiara father was a tax gatherer. As a child he highly regarded poetry. In 1768, he was apprenticed to a local debase, but he did not bring to a close much from him.
